So my partner and I went up to Wellington this past weekend for a family wedding. We decided a while ago to rather stay over and not drive back the same night. Just makes sense, its safer all round. Bonus was - we made a weekend out of it and I think it was just what we all needed.

We drove up in the heat of Saturday, car read 36.5 degrees! 38 degrees in Wellington itself! I had booked us in at the Blouvlei B and B in Wellington itself. They were efficient, friendly and organised and at R 200 per night per person, who can complain! What a cute little place it is, Run by a lovely husband and wife team. The rooms are next to the main house and we had the self catering, 3 people cottage at the top of the stairs. It was so cozy and we had everything we needed, a little fridge, comfy bed, dstv and aircon. There is a Entertainment room on the side of a beautiful pool in front of the main house. The entertainment room is kitted out with a Tv, braai and jacuzzi!!! :)

It was far too hot for the jacuzzi on this trip, so we opted for a late night swim after the wedding.

The wedding was amazing and was enjoyed by all. The venue, Langkloof Roses Farm,  was absolutely beautiful and they have various rooms, outside and indoors, for functions such as these. The gorgeous little chapel on the farm was stunning and the ceremony was one of the best I have been too. Once we all went inside for the reception bit, the room did feel a little cramped for such a small wedding. This is not a venue you will make use of for a wedding party any bigger than 60 people. The staff were a little slow on service and the venue did not have ice buckets or steak knives? Yet they served steak as the main meal? Many of the guests complained the steak was not good at all.
The vegetarian meal wasnt anything to write home about, but it wasnt terrible either.

We were happy to spend the rest of the night twirling on the dance floor with our friends and family.

Then next morning we slept in, got dressed and done and then headed out for a drive in the country. Always beautiful out that way. We ended up at fairview farm for a wonderful cheese and bread lunch. Always a winner for me. Fairview farm is beauiful, well kept and the restaurant and shop on the farm is to die for. Not to mention the awesome goats who are always happy to greet you.

This trip was a must do, whether you are a Captonian born and bred like myself or coming from far and wide.
