Bed and Breakfast in Betty's Bay

Posted by Dannielle Connections on Monday, August 11, 2014, In : Out and about
We spent last week-end in the beautiful coastal town of Bettys Bay.

We took a slow drive through – and wound our way along the coastal road, and
Managed to get a glimpse of a whale lying in the bay just past Gordon’s Bay.

Upon arriving in the town our first sight of the scene of the recent fire, made us
Realize what a good job the fire-fighters had done.  The flames had licked the
Decks of some of the houses and had melted the drain pipes.  Some of the houses came really close to going up in...

Posted by Dannielle Connections on Thursday, March 20, 2014, In : What If
What if ......................

You got home and had no water ???

That happened to us yesterday...

I telephoned the City of Cape town and spoke to the very polite and helpful Kelvin.
A reference number was smsed to me while still on the phone with him.
Within 15mins a representative arrived and about 10 minutes later I had my water supply
Back.

Well done and thank you City of Cape Town

What if I was a tourist on a My-Citi bus ......

Posted by Dannielle Connections on Thursday, March 13, 2014, In : What If
Well if you were a tourist on the My-Citi bus this past week, on the Table View to Civic Centre Route :-
The doors would not work because of the power failure.   You could not swipe your card either.

Even if the power was on, you would not know when the next bus was scheduled because the Timetable that should show the bus times – is not accurate – it says bus in station and there is no bus ?  Perhaps this is the schedule for the Phantom buses?

The bus would arrive from Table View side about...

Alexander Bar

Posted by Dannielle Connections on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, In : Out and about
Thank you to Alexander Bar – for hosting the bridal shower on the 19th October 2013.
This is such a unique little corner of cape town – the atmosphere and old furniture and the attention to detail is amazing.

We so enjoyed the added fun of being able to phone the bar from the old
Telephones.   Erica and her staff were so helpful, they bent over backwards to assist.
They answered every question and every email and supplied all the details we required.
Eva who was on duty for the day, supervise...

Intercape Bus Services

Posted by Dannielle Connections on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, In : Business's
I have had the pleasure of dealing with Intercape Bus services while arranging bookings between Cape Town and Upington recently.

I would like to compliment them on their reasonably priced tickets and their very efficient service.
I simply email them my requirements, they answer immediately and give all instructions – details and information required in an easy to understand – direct and clear format.

I have had to book tickets at the last minute, I have had to change bookings and every singl...

A Steam Train called Jenny

Posted by Dannielle Connections on Monday, July 16, 2012, In : Out and about
The light rain created an eery mist around the Train Lodge as we climbed into old wooden coach No 1 on Sunday morning.Dressed warmly and carrying our snacks and drinks we waited for the train to leave.

You cannot describe the wonderment of hearing that old train start up and chug out of the station.

The sound of a steam train is not something you hear anymore. I got goosebumps and was so excited when the train tooted, leaving the station in Cape Town and headed out on her journey. You can feel ...

Tygerberg Zoo

Posted by Dannielle Connections on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, In : Out and about
I don’t agreed with Zoo’s and having animals in cages, the perfect situation would be that they
All enjoyed freedom.
But in certain circumstances it is the only solution, and Tygerberg Zoo have strived for decades
To give these animals a good home.  The Zoo has been a place where families can enjoy the day
Together and hopefully be educated about the wildlife.

Tygerberg Zoo was part of your school outing curriculum and part of growing up in Cape Town.

Sadly, the Zoo is closing at the end o...

Janet Jackson Live in Cape Town

Posted by Dannielle Connections on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, In : Concerts and shows
What a show! At nearly 50 years old we are incredibly impressed with Janet and the phenomenal show she brought to our beautiful sores. "Janet Jackson, up close and personal, her number 1's" was everything we imagined and more.

I must admit I was also very impressed with the way Grand West and the concert managers handled the event and the numbers of people descending on Grand West at one time. We always make it in, park and out at the end of the evening with minimal irritation. Well done to Gr...
