Under: Out and about
I was privileged enough to enjoy a weekend away at Papyrus lodge in Somerset west. What a wonderful weekend. The staff at Papyrus give you top class service from start to finish. This is a dream destination for South Africans and Tourists alike, In the heart of the winelands area, near the strawberry farm, Fairview, Buena vista, Stellenbosch and Strand and many other Cape Town must see's. This is THE place to stay in my opinion.
The staff are so pleasant and helpful, from booking to check out. On arrival we were escorted to our rooms and shown the place in person. The owners and managers add a personal touch to everything they do there. The rooms themselves are absolutely stunning and have everything you need for a self catering weekend, but of course you have the choice of eating out at the various awesome restaurants and farms in the area.
When we arrived at our beautiful wood cabins, built on the Dam, I was blown away. The views of the Dam and mountains in the background cant be bet and all this from the comfort of your massive king sized bed. Security is a major concern at Papyrus and we felt extremely safe while staying there.
This is a Bass fisherman's Utopia and if you are a couple were the man likes to fish and the lady would prefer a spa treatment - this is the place to be! We enjoyed the most divine dinner across the road at 96, The Winery Restaurant that evening. The weather was breath taking, the setting amazing, service was excellent and the food mouth watering. We can definately recommend the Cob fish and Fillet steak and their Chocolate desert is a must have!! The only comment I will make about The Winery and Papyrus is that they do charge tourist prices, so this should be a very special weekend away for the average South African.
Having said that our time there was priceless and I would do it all again.....
