Well Im tired of doing nothing! Tired of bad people getting away with doing as they please with no repercussions. Its disgusting that innocent South Africans have to live in a counrty they love in fear - fear of being raped, murdered, robbed. Its ridiculous and Im tired of it. Each time it happens, there are excuses, in fact us victims are guilty of it too. Oh shame - there are not enough jobs, oh shame we are a third world country, oh shame the country doesnt have enough money blah blah blah.
We report incidences to the police for insurance purposes, because no one ever follows up or actually does there job, looks for or finds your things, makes an arrest. Its just another case number. The sad thing is, we dont even care ( lets be honest with ourselves) till it happens to us or a loved one.
The honest truth is - was accept this behavior, we are scared to fight it. Perhaps too tired, too stressed...
You think to yourself whats the point, nothing going to change. But if each and every one of us do that - then who is doing something? Who is making a difference?

I will no longer accept the bullying and that this is just how the world is. It doesnt have to be that way.

My brother was robbed by knife point this morning on the N2/R300 turn off - or near by. Luckily he had the presence of mind just to give the dude what he wanted and he was not harmed. We can replace things, but not the people. This is the second robbery attempt on him on, that road, in 2 months!!! The first time his bakkie broke down and one of the rif raf that was passing by tried to steal his bag, while they were working on the car!!! The audacity!
This time, he got a puncher on his bike and of course had to stop. He had luckily just called his fiance to come get him when this criminal stuck a knife in his belly and made him hand over all his things.
What happens if you have a car accident along that road? Will they be stealing from you while they watch you die? PROBABLY!
What if you are a young women on your own? Will you be raped and stolen - never to be seen again by your loved ones? I realise these are opportunists - just taking a chance and yes I dont disagree that some of them may be desperate and dont feel like they have an option. So whats been done about it??

And the police/traffic cops sitting making jokes and talking shit at the intersections on that road doesnt count.

We called the police - nobody came, nobody stops to check if you ok - they are not patrolling up and down like they should. Yes they are there - there is a presence and I appreciate that, but they need to be doing more. Assisting people who have broken down till help comes. There should be cameras along that road - so we can all see whats going on and identify the culprits. Or would the cameras be stolen too?
I understand that we are a third world country, that money is very tight, that there is way too many of us and that there are limited jobs and resources. But we actually have good systems in place, with a very good constitution. The problem is that we are not enforcing the rules and regulations like we should be and far too many of the supposed good guys ( like the cops and politicians) are corrupt!
You cant trust anybody - even the cops. A friend of ours was hi-jacked by guys dressed as cops with a SAPS van!

This is why people are taking the law into their own hands, because just like some of these opportunist criminals, they too dont feel like they have a choice.

My point is that we should not have to live like this! Please be safe, aware and avoid dangerous situations. But why should we not be allowed to drive down the road thats most convenient to us as a equal, voting citizen of this country because the bad element have made it unsafe for us to do so!
If these criminals were caught and behind bars or in rehab/working camps provided by the government - perhaps we could make a tiny difference one step at a time. Right now they are out on the R300 taking your brother, your sister, your Mom, your friends hard earned things from them....and they are just going to keep getting away with it.
