We visited the Kloofzicht Country Estate in Tulbagh this past week-end.
The main house and loft are set in stunning gardens, with a very nice, large, well maintained pool.
The loft is a beautiful old building, and everything was clean – the bed I slept on downstairs was very comfortable.
The kitchen was well-equipped but set out in a rather odd way to me, being used to
the modern way of living where everything is built in. But then this is a restored old country loft and is decorated according to a time when every time was free-standing.
The house is furnished with un-usual antiques, beautiful wood furniture and the walls are full of art works.
The house seems to ooze history.
There are 2 fireplaces one upstairs and one downstairs which would heat up the loft in winter very nicely. There is plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. You can enjoy the scenery on the deck.
Bird-watchers would have a great time as the bird life is abundant.
We were not very successful at the Bass Fishing but did see lots of Carp in the dam.
There is no micro-wave and no television set which makes it a true country lodge, and
invites you to play games, talk and spend quality time enjoying nature.
The house takes you back in time, and you feel like you have gone back to the era of simplicity when the small things mattered.
