I don’t agreed with Zoo’s and having animals in cages, the perfect situation would be that they
All enjoyed freedom.
But in certain circumstances it is the only solution, and Tygerberg Zoo have strived for decades
To give these animals a good home. The Zoo has been a place where families can enjoy the day
Together and hopefully be educated about the wildlife.
Tygerberg Zoo was part of your school outing curriculum and part of growing up in Cape Town.

Sadly, the Zoo is closing at the end of the year. The land has been sold, and the animals relocated.
There is not much any of us can do, besides pay a visit before it closes and take one last look
At the animals that were taken care of by the wonderful people who dedicated their time, day in
And day out to the animals in their care.

Unfortunately the generations ahead will not be able to stand and marvel at the magnificence of
Nature at this Zoo, but I hope that they will visit the other wildlife centres, or do whatever they
Can to preserve our wild animals for the generations still to come.

If you are able to donate in any way – please contact Tygerberg Zoo directly.
